2nd Annual Airfield Operations Area Exposition & Conference

Live Equipment Demonstrations Bring Airfield Operations Managers to Exclusive Airfield Operations Area Expo & Conference

Outdoor exhibit space provides up close view of heavy AOA equipment

Fort Atkinson, WI (March 16, 2006) -- The 2nd Annual Airfield Operations Area (AOA) Expo & Conference, the only show that addresses all disciplines of airfield operations, is readying for what is expected to be the most comprehensive outdoor exhibition for AOA technologies and products in the country. The program currently has more than a dozen manufacturers signed to demonstrate products like the Foreign Object Debris FOD*BOSS SWEEPER, demonstrated by Aerosweep and Sherwin Industries, a patented airport sweeping system that collects loose debris from ramps, gates and runways with speeds of up to 25 mph. Prior to the introduction of this technology, debris was removed manually and could take hours of back-breaking work to succeed.

"The ability to showcase a product in its environment is essential," says AIRPORT BUSINESS Publisher Holly Hoffer, a sponsor of the event. "There is no other show like this one that is exclusive to AOA managers who can see, hear, touch and view products that can enhance their own local airport operations."

Blast Deflectors, Inc. (BDI) will demonstrate its Ground Run-Up Enclosure (GRE) which is built to address the challenge of controlling noise from engine run-ups, second-generation. BDI’s product offers unprecedented performance in both aerodynamics and noise mitigation.

"Exhibitors can showcase their products to hundreds of AOA decision-makers at one time," says Show Manager Karen Reinhardt. "Likewise, attendees are registering because they are interested in an event that offers one-stop shopping and targeted conference programs that deal with needs relevant to their function and their airport’s performance."

Other on-site demonstrations include:

  • Douglas Equipment Ltd’s MuMeter ® which uses the latest technology used to record, display and share RCR information. The MuMeter ® offers continuous friction testing combined with GPS-based runway condition reporting and will be demonstrated by Eagle Integrated Solutions.

  • The AIRPORT MAXX™ folding ramp plow, also demonstrated by Eagle Integrated, is an electric over hydraulic plow that represents the most flexible technology for ramp/apron applications. With folding wings and various size configurations available, this plow can be used in many ways such as hogging and angle plowing in both forward and reverse.

  • Pavement Rejuvenation International LP, (PRI)’s Hurrisafe 8035 Runway Rubber Remover, safe enough for direct contact with aircraft with no reactive caustic materials, terpenes or d-limonenes and passes USEPA 796.3200 "Readily Biodegradable" and is chemically compatible with oil/water separators as well as waste water treatment systems.

  • Batts Inc. will spray water to demonstrate how the deicer works, and will invite attendees to watch the operation from in the cab as time permits.

  • Smart Manufacturing, Inc. will be demonstrating SMART-Tote 125, which is a runway deicer and the LSDS Sidewalk Deicer.

In addition to the outdoor exhibition, the AOA Expo offers a comprehensive look at all disciplines of the Airfield Operations Area (AOA) providing an opportunity for vendors in all aspects of AOA. Sponsors include Myslik Co., Oshkosh Truck, Sherwin Industries, M-B Companies and United Rotary Brush.

The event opens April 9th through the 11th at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel and Convention Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, focusing exclusively on challenges that affect airfield performance such as runway improvement, pavement types, local condition forecasting, friction testing, signage, snow removal, lighting, perimeter fencing, safety, security and more.
